Arable Mark is a field-level weather and crop monitoring device that collects over 40 field-specific data metrics. Collectively, the data can help provide actionable insight indicating trends across fields and whether crops are susceptible to disease.

DESIGN CONCEPTS

Arable Mark has a solar panel, 2 spectrometers, 1 acoustic rain sensor and 1 temperature & humidity sensor. The real challenge was to package all the required components into a small footprint and durable device. We also needed to create a simple and clever way to mount the module to various types of poles.

PROTOTYPING AND TESTING

Prototyping and testing was a very crucial part of the process. The Mark had to be self-sufficient and withstand extreme weather conditions. We were actively working with external mechanical engineering and product development teams to test all design features and sensors.
